Among
the many advantages of SGE membership is that you don’t have to wait
until November for the excitement of casting your ballot: the May SGE
Board election season is open! In addition to myself (who is
looking forward to joining the nomenklatura of SGE ex-Presidents), web
director Lee Cohen and membership director Andrew Bershadker will be
exiting the board this year. Bill Lawhorn (Bureau of Labor
Statistics), who has served SGE for three years as conference chair and
Vice President, will run for next year’s Presidency; and Chris Adams
(Federal Trade Commission), Anthony Barkume (BLS), and Kevin Moore
(Federal Reserve Board) will run for new board membership. Details
of the 2006-7 slate are listed here. Cast your vote
here through May 31, 2006.
Also
this month, Michael Horrigan, Assistant Director at the Bureau of Labor
Statistics, will delve into the details of the Producer Price Index at
the SGE luncheon on Thursday, May 18. For those who couldn’t
make the April SGE luncheon, a write-up of EU Director Servaas
Deroose’s comments foreseeing a sustained economic upswing in the euro
area is available here.
Finally, a bout of spring cleaning should lead to major
improvements in the SGE website over the next few weeks, so be sure to
surf by. As always, we
welcome suggestions and feedback from our members on all of our programs
and services.
