President’s Message

Happy New Year.   With the New Year, many of your memberships are due for renewal, so please take the time to renew.  I want to thank everyone for their patience as we move to a direct annual membership.  As the system is finalized, you will receive a notice related to your membership expiration the month you expire and two additional months.

Starting the New Year with a bang, we have Anne Krueger giving the SGE keynote address in Chicago at the 2007 AEA.  Keep an eye out for the 2008 call for sessions.

Here is a special review of Capital and Freedom by Milton Friedman who recently passed away.

We had a special Morning Seminar Monday December 4, 2006.  Here is the report.

Our January luncheon features Ike Brannon, Principal Economic Adviser
to Sen. Orrin Hatch, on Thursday, January 18, 2006.   Please make your reservation with Jonathon soon.

The December lunch was a wonderful way to close out the year.  Harry Holzer gave a great talk.  Here is the report.

The NABE Policy conference is coming this spring.  SGE members can attend this conference at the reduced member rate.  For more information go to their website http://www.nabe.com/pc07/index.html.  Please share this information with your colleagues.

There is also a Federal Forecaster Brown Bag lunch on January 9th.

You may also want to look at our job listings.  AARP is currently looking for Strategic Policy Advisors.

See you soon at an SGE Event or at the AEA in Chicago..
