President’s Message
February has brought the deep freeze. Unfortunately that freeze included the SGE server, which delayed our bulletin. It took longer than planned to correct the problems. As a result of this mini crisis, I offer you an SGE public service announcement, "Always maintain proper documentation."
Thank you to everyone who renewed in January. Please take the time to renew if you haven't already. I want to thank everyone for their patience as we move to a direct annual membership. As the system is finalized, you will receive a notice related to your membership expiration the month you expire and two additional months.
What an amazing AEA Conference. Our sessions were well attended and interesting. We will be posting papers and presentations in the near future. I would like to thank Dr. Anne Krueger for giving the SGE keynote address in Chicago. A special thanks to all of our presenters, organizers, and discussants. Here is the call for the 2008 call for sessions in New Orleans.
Here is a review of Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, by John Perkins as reviewed by Jonathan A. Schwabish.
We have a special Evening Seminar February 20th, 2006. "Crises in Health Care and Health Insurance in the U.S. and Possible Solutions." I hope you will be able to attend.
Our January luncheon featured
Ike Brannon, Principal Economic Adviser
to Sen. Orrin Hatch, on Thursday, January 18, 2006. Here is the report.
In February we have Roberton Williams from the Urban Institute.
The NABE Policy conference is coming this spring. SGE members can attend this conference at the reduced member rate. For more information go to their website http://www.nabe.com/pc07/index.html. Please share this information with your colleagues.
There is also a Federal Forecaster Brown Bag lunch on January 9th.
You may also want to look at our job listings.
See you soon at an SGE Event.
