President’s Message
April is here and it is natural for our thoughts to turn to summer. Summer brings a new board. Next month you will see the candidate statements and voting instructions. Take the time to see who wants to take SGE into the future. Or send me an email, if you are interested in serving on the board.
The promised Anne Krueger report is ready. It is here. I would like to thank Dr. Krueger for her comments and help.
Thank you to everyone who renewed in March. Please take the time to renew if you haven't already. I want to thank everyone for their patience as we move to a direct annual membership. As the system is finalized, you will receive a notice related to your membership expiration the month you expire and two additional months. We are studying ways to improve the process and don't want to make a false start.
The next ASSA/AEA conference is in New Orleans. I bet the weather there will be much nicer than it was in Chicago this year. Don't miss an opportunity to present your research. Here is the 2008 SGE call for sessions in New Orleans.
Our March luncheon featured Chester Spatt, from the SEC. The report will be here.
Our April speaker is Diane Lim Rogers, Chief Economist of the House Budget Committee.
We have a review of The Power of Productivity: Wealth, Poverty, and the Threat to Global Stability by William W. Lewis here.
Here are a few job listings that may be of interest.
In other events there is a call for papers by the Pennsylvania Economic Association as well as the upcoming NEC lunch announcements.
See you soon at an SGE Event.
Bill Lawhorn
President SGE
