President’s Message
I hope everyone had a great summer and had a chance to spend some time out of the heat. SGE is planning a number of exciting events this Fall and we hope you will be able to join us.
Our new SGE Vice President Brian Sloboda has compiled an impressive list of speakers for our Monthly Luncheon series. Please join us for blah blah in two weeks for our September luncheon. We are also planning to bring back the SGE Monthly Happy Hour, so be on the look out for announcements.
We are also very excited for the AEA meetings in New Orleans this January. SGE is hosting eight different sessions including our 25th Distinguished Lecturer. We are happy to announce that SGE will be hosting a cocktail party at the AEAs this year. Please join us at the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, January 5 at 6:00 pm for cocktails and conversation. Current members will receive one free drink and we encourage all government economists to stop by.
We also continue to work towards our next SGE conference in June 2008. Our steering committee--Steve Payson, Ignez Tristao and Michael Wolf--are working hard getting things together. Be on the lookout for a Call for Papers for this exciting conference!
