President's Message
November 2007
This Fall is a busy time for SGE! Our second Happy Hour takes place on Thursday, November 15 at Gordon Biersch Restaurant on F Street, NW, starting at about 5:30pm. SGE will spring for appetizers, so please join us for great food and great beer!
Our Monthly Luncheon series continues over the next two months with some great speakers. Alan Viard, from the American Enterprise Institute, will speak on Thursday, November 29 and Gary Hoover, from the University of Alabama, will speak on Friday, December 14. More information about both of these luncheons can be found on the SGE website.
SGE also continues to look for papers and sessions for the 2008 SGE Annual Conference next June. Please see the Call for Papers for more information.
We are also excited about a number of events at the 2008 AEA meetings in New Orleans:
- Eight sessions with some great papers
- 25th Annual SGE Distinguished Lecture in Economics given by Dr. Peter Orszag, Director, Congressional Budget Office
- SGE-hosted cocktail party on Saturday, January 5th.
We hope you can join us at many of these exciting events and will get involved in SGE as we continue to grow and provide more opportunities for government economists to meet, mingle and present their work.
