President's Message
February 2008

As we reach the home stretch of winter, SGE is looking forward to an exciting spring.

SGE was proud to sponsor eight sessions at this year's AEA meetings in New Orleans. SGE-sponsored sessions are a great way for SGE members to present their work at the largest economics conferences during the year. In the next couple of months, we will issue our Call for Papers for the 2009 AEA meetings in San Francisco.

SGE is setting it's own goals for 2008. Our annual conference will be held this June; the monthly luncheon schedule promises to bring in some great speakers; and a new round of Call for Papers for next year's AEA meetings.

This month, Rakesh Kochar of the Pew Hispanic Center will discuss U.S. immigration policy at the February Monthly Luncheon.

Also, SGE also continues to look for papers and sessions for the 2008 SGE Annual Conference next June. Please see the 2008 SGE Annual Conference and Online Registration page for more information. This is a great opportunity for government economists to present their work and receive feedback, so please join us this June.

We hope you can join us at many of these exciting events and will get involved in SGE as we continue to grow and provide more opportunities for government economists to meet, mingle and present their work.

See you soon at an SGE event!
