President's Message
April 2008
Last month I noted that warme weather had hit DC; well, that wasn't quite the case, but we're nearing the end of the Cherry Blossom Festival, so you know Spring is right around the corner. The next few months bring some exciting events for SGE. Our annual conference is scheduled for Monday, June 2. A number of sessions and papers were submitted and a prelimary program will be posted soon. For more information about this year's conference, please see the 2008 SGE Annual Conference and Online Registration page. This is a great opportunity for government economists to present their work and receive feedback, so please join us this June.
We are also pleased to issue our Call for Papers for SGE-sponsored sessions for the 2009 ASSA conference in San Francisco. This is also a great opportunity for government economists to present their work at one of the premier conferences of the year. Please see the conference page for more information and details about submitting your work.
We are also currently holding SGE elections for next year. Board statements are available here. All SGE members may vote in the elections. Votes are due by Friday, May 16, 2008 to Bill Lawhorn at Lawhorn.William@bls.gov. Serving on the SGE board is a great way to meet other economists in the DC area, share your research, and be involved in all of SGE's activities. Should you wish to join the SGE board, please contact me at Jonathan.Schwabish@cbo.gov.
We hope you can join us at many of these exciting events and will be able to join us at the Annual Conference this June.
See you soon at an SGE event!
Jonathan Schwabish
SGE President
