2022 SGE@ASSA Sessions in Boston

Call for Papers – SGE@ASSA

The submission deadline has passed. Decisions on papers and sessions is scheduled for July 1, 2021.

The Society of Government Economists’ mission is to support the professional development of government economists and others interested in public policy economics, by providing them with research, publication, and professional communication opportunities. This call for papers and sessions is open to all individuals (applicants need not be government economists).

SGE will sponsor seven sessions during the 2022 ASSA Annual meeting, to be held in Boston, MA on January 7-9, 2022 (Friday thru Sunday). These sessions provide the opportunity for economists working in the public sector and on public policy to present their research, discuss it with their peers, and receive feedback as well as to meet other economists and be informed about the latest topics in economics.

Membership Requirements:

  • For a paper to be considered, at least one author of the paper must have an active SGE membership. 
  • For a session to be considered, at least one author per paper must have an active SGE membership.
  • Membership is for 12 months from time of payment. Pay the annual membership fee of $30 via credit card or PayPal on the secure PayPal link on the SGE website @ https://www.sge-econ.org/join-sge/.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Use google form links embedded below and provide description of session, abstracts, and all names and contact emails of all participants.
  • Individual Paper Submission: To propose an individual paper, include: (1) a brief sentence describing the paper,  (2) the title of the paper and the names and contact information (including email addresses) and affiliations for each of the authors, (3) an abstract (of no more than 300 words) describing the paper, and (4) 2 JEL codes. Do NOT send a draft of the paper.
  • Full session submission: To propose an entire session, include: (1) The title, organizer, and chair of the session, (2) all of the above-mentioned information required of individual-paper proposals for each of the papers in the session (for 4 papers), and (3) the names and contact information for all discussants and which papers they will discuss.
  • In the case of individual papers, the Society will organize selected papers into sessions and invite discussants and chairs to those sessions.
  • If your paper or session is accepted, all participants must comply with ASSA guidelines for the conference.
  • Sessions are competitively selected by the SGE@ASSA Committee, comprised this year of Susan Fleck, Gray Kimbrough, Wendy Li (Chair), Austin Nichols, and Sabrina Pabilonia.
